Biography: Chief Pericomo Okoye (1948 – 2017)

The Nigerian music and cultural scene lost a giant with the passing of Pericomo Damian Azubike Nwankwo Okoye on February 16, 2017. Popularly known as Pericoma, he was celebrated not only as an iconic singer and songwriter but also as a renowned traditionist. A well-known practitioner of Odinala, the ancient traditional religion of the Igbo people, he dedicated his life to preserving and promoting his cultural heritage through his artistry.

Until his death, Chief Pericomo Okoye held the esteemed title of cultural prime minister of Arondizuogu.
